
| Chairman of the board and principal engineer of
ETTL, Mr. Douglas E. Flatt
has had five decades of experience in civil engineering. His professional affiliations, activities and
awards have been multifold. A few include: ~ Recipient 1985 of East Texas Engineer of the Year Award, conferred by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE). ~ East Texas Engineers Distinguished Service Award, also conferred by TSPE. ~ Life Member and Past Member of Board of Direction of Texas Section, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). ~ Past Chairman of Southern Division of American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL). ~ Past President (1982-1983), Texas Council of Engineering Laboratories (TCEL). ~ 2001 Award of Excellence (TCEL). ~ Distinguished Graduate, Department of Civil Engineering, Texas A&M University. ~ Advisory Committee, 12th Man Foundation, Texas A&M University. ~ Advisory Board, School of Engineering & Computer Science, University of Texas at Tyler. Mr. Flatt took three degrees from
Texas A&M University. The first was a Bachelor of Science in
Agricultural Engineering. He then served in the U.S. Army as a First
Lieutenant in the field artillery, returning to A&M to take a Bachelor
of Science and a Master of Science, both in Civil Engineering. Under his
headship, ETTL Engineers & Consultants Inc. not only became a leading
concern in the geotechnical and construction materials engineering
disciplines in Texas and adjoining regions; it also now offers a wide
array of environmental engineering and consulting services. Indeed, in
addition to being associated with numerous civil engineering bodies, as
indicated above, Mr. Flatt is also a member of American Society for Testing and
Materials (ASTM) Committee E-50, which sets standards for environmental site
assessments.
